The incumbent is responsible for handling photographic assignments involving House Members, their constituents and specific “Official” Congressional events (State of the Union, Joint Sessions of Congress, special legislative sessions, commemorations, funerals, conferences, Heads of State visits, Committee activities, etc.) as assigned.
The incumbent is also responsible for performing all Lab activities, both color and black & white as well as high quality photographic darkroom processing, as well as in digital photographic applications and print production.
The incumbent must also develop and maintain general working knowledge of all aspects of the Area, and a general understanding of the Sub-Unit, Unit, Office of the CAO at-large, and overall House community as well as applicable legal requirements, House Rules, Committee and CAO polices and procedures, and specific Unit, Sub-Unit, and Area practices and procedures. The incumbent provides feedback, guidance, and recommendations to Area and Sub-Unit management regarding sensitive and confidential issues.

Qualifications:
Candidates should possess In-depth knowledge and understanding of photographic composition and lighting.
In-depth knowledge of and skill using photographic processing techniques, chemicals and equipment used in color and Digital laboratory darkrooms.
Ability to understand and apply workplace policies, practices, rules and established procedures, as well as exercise sound judgement and discretion.
Understanding of and ability to establish and maintain administrative and quality control processes.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing as well as the ability to establish effective working relationships with senior staff and other high ranking officials.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with tact, both personnel and operational, as well as the ability to exercise judgement and discretion. Demonstrable organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to successfully complete and apply applicable training, technical and otherwise.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently in an interdisciplinary customer service oriented work environment.
Ability to meet minimum physical requirements (lifting, bending, crouching, standing, etc) if needed.
Availability to work additional hours as required.
Must successfully complete a criminal history records check [or other applicable security clearance] and a pre-employment drug-test (pre-identified position only).
Must have (Proven experience as a professional photographer to include the operation of various types of cameras and related equipment.
Experience working in high volume photographic lab operations to include operating and repairing/troubleshooting color darkroom equipment.
Experience with digital photographic processing and equipment preferred.
Working knowledge of and experience using various automated office systems and software programs preferred.
Knowledge of the legislative environment, U.S. House of Representatives, and the operations thereof, preferred.
Bachelor’s degree or specialized training and/or certification in a discipline related to the position or an equivalent level of professional work experience preferred.
Salary Range: 50,215.00 - 65,394.00 USD per year
